2024 School of Economics Graduate Student Forum and the 9th Poyang Lake Forum Successfully Held On the morning of December 26, the 2024 Graduate Student Forum and the 9th Poyang Lake Forum, organized by the School of Economics / Ecological Economy Research Institute, was successfully held in the Lecture Hall 718 of the North Comprehensive Building, Jiaoqiao Campus. The theme of this forum was Developing New Quality Productive Forces to Promote Integrated Urban-Rural Development. It aimed to enhance the quality of graduate student training, enliven the academic atmosphere for graduate students, exercise students' scientific research abilities, and strengthen academic exchange. This year's forum attracted widespread attention from teachers and students both within and outside the university. Doctoral and master's students, as well as outstanding undergraduates, from many universities including Hunan University, Anhui University of Finance and Economics, North China University of Water Resources and Electric Power, Jiangxi Agricultural University, and Jiangxi Normal University, actively submitted papers, with a total of 30 high-quality papers presented. The opening ceremony was hosted by Professor Yu Bingwen, Vice Dean of the School of Economics. Professor Huang Heping delivered the opening address. Professor Pan Dan, Dean of the Ecological Economy Research Institute, Professor Wang Shoukun, Vice Dean of the Digital Economy School, and other faculty members from within and outside the school attended the opening ceremony.

In the expert keynote report session, Professor Wang Shoukun, Vice Dean of the Digital Economy School, presented on the theme The Development and Impact of New Quality Productive Forces from a Macro-Historical Perspective. He reviewed the leading role of productive forces in social changes, elaborated on the meaning of new quality productive forces, and analyzed their profound impact on the Six Major Relationships. Professor Wang proposed specific policy suggestions for the development of new quality productive forces and provided valuable theoretical guidance and research insights for the students.

Professor Pan Dan, Dean of the Ecological Economy Research Institute, presented on the theme Some Experiences in Thesis Writing: Topic Selection, Writing, and Submission. She shared detailed insights on topic selection, writing, and submission of papers, and shared valuable tips and experiences regarding literature retrieval and management, and data acquisition for papers in the era of big data. Finally, Professor Pan offered suggestions for engaging in research work, pointing the way for students conducting academic research.

In the graduate student parallel sessions, two sub-forums were set up, held in Meeting Rooms 718 and 815 of the North Comprehensive Building respectively. Professors Wu Tao, Cui Xinghua, Associate Professor Zhang Guanglai, and Dr. Li Lilian from the School of Economics were invited as guest commentators. In the sub-forums, students from different universities presented their research findings. The reviewing experts provided constructive comments and improvement suggestions on various aspects such as language of discussion, formatting standards, and content completeness.

At the end of the forum, a closing ceremony and award presentation were held. After strict review and evaluation by the experts, the forum selected 2 first prizes, 4 second prizes, 8 third prizes, and 16 excellence awards. After the award ceremony, the winners took group photos to capture this memorable moment.

The successful hosting of this forum has not only provided students with a valuable platform for academic exchange but also ignited their passion for research and spirit of exploration. Through this event, more academic research achievements and cutting-edge ideas were showcased, offering students fresh insights and food for thought.
