Researcher Wu Guobao from Chinese Academy of Social Sciences Delivers Lecture at Our Institute

On the morning of April 30, 2025, Researcher Wu Guobao from the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) was invited to deliver an academic lecture titled China's Urbanization Pathways and Changes in Urban-Rural Disparities at our institute. The lecture was chaired by Professor Zhang Liguo, Dean of the institute, and attended by over 30 faculty members and students from within and outside the institute.

Researcher Wu Guobao emphasized that a correct understanding of China's urban-rural issues requires knowledge of the actual circumstances regarding the progress in narrowing the urban-rural gap and promoting common prosperity, the pathways and implementation mechanisms for narrowing the urban-rural gap and achieving common prosperity, and urbanization pathways and changes in urban-rural disparities. This includes aspects such as the household registration system, rural land reform, the context of a large nation, and traditional rural culture.

During the lecture, Researcher Wu presented numerous data charts on urban-rural disparities and common prosperity, providing a clear understanding of the changing trends in various current data points. He also provided a detailed analysis of the implementation mechanisms for narrowing the urban-rural gap and promoting common prosperity. These mechanisms include income, labor force, agricultural product prices, equalization of basic public services between urban and rural areas, new technologies, new business formats, and integrated urban-rural development. Furthermore, he proposed four pathway models for urbanization of China's population.

In the final segment of the lecture, Researcher Wu interacted with the faculty and students, engaging in in-depth discussions on the lecture's theme. The atmosphere was one of strong intellectual curiosity. This lecture provided valuable academic guidance for the attendees, contributed to enhancing the university's scientific research standards, and proved to be highly rewarding for all participants.
