Theoretical Economics at Our School Ranks 14th Nationwide in ShanghaiRanking's Best Chinese Disciplines On October 15, 2025, ShanghaiRanking, a Chinese higher education evaluation agency, officially released the 2025 Best Chinese Disciplines Ranking. The Theoretical Economics discipline at our school was ranked 14th on the list, maintaining its position within the top 20%.
The Theoretical Economics discipline at our school has a solid academic foundation. It obtained the authorization for a master's program in Political Economics in 1993, a master's program in Western Economics in 2001, a master's program in Labor Economics and a doctoral program in Political Economics in 2003, a first-level master's program in Theoretical Economics and a doctoral program in Western Economics in 2006, and a first-level doctoral program in Theoretical Economics in 2011. A postdoctoral research station in Theoretical Economics was established in 2007. In recent years, the School has consistently focused on the development of the Theoretical Economics discipline, continuously strengthening its foundation, enhancing team building, and improving its overall strength and level. Efforts have been made to construct an independent knowledge system of Chinese economics, leading to significant progress in disciplinary development.
